Male JJK Characters

Jujutsu Kaisen has a big male cast, and it covers a lot of ground. There are the JJK boys at school, the first-years and second-years who are still figuring out what kind of sorcerers they want to be. There are the JJK men who've already decided, teachers, clan heads and mercenaries. And there are ancient sorcerers who reincarnate into modern bodies during the Culling Game.

We've kept this page to characters with an actual role in the story. Shikigami and the Culling Game interface are left out of the gallery below, and you can find the girls and women on our female JJK characters page.

Yuji Itadori is the protagonist, a pink-haired first-year with monstrous physical strength and Sukuna inside him. Megumi Fushiguro is his black-haired, sharp-tongued classmate with the Ten Shadows. Their year at Tokyo is rounded out by Nobara.

A year above them are Toge Inumaki, the white-haired Cursed Speech user who talks in rice ball ingredients, Panda (an actual panda, technically a cursed corpse built by Principal Yaga) and Yuta Okkotsu, the lead of Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Third-year Kinji Hakari is suspended for most of the story and shows up in Season 3 with one of the best domain expansions in the series.

At Kyoto, Aoi Todo is the giant third-year with a love of idol Takada-chan and a Boogie Woogie technique that swaps positions with a clap. Noritoshi Kamo uses Blood Manipulation, which becomes important when we meet Choso. Mechamaru, real name Kokichi Muta, pilots puppets because his own body is too fragile to leave his room.

Satoru Gojo is the white-haired teacher and the strongest sorcerer of the modern era. Most fans would name him the most popular male JJK character, and it isn't close.

Kento Nanami is the jjk blonde guy most people mean when they search for one. Glasses, a neat suit, a knife-like Ratio technique and a dry sense of humour. Hakari, Naoya Zenin and Reggie Star are the other blond men in the cast, though nobody mistakes Naoya for a good person.

Toji Fushiguro is Megumi's father, a sorcerer killer with no cursed energy whose scar across the lip has become an instant identifier. Suguru Geto is Gojo's best friend turned enemy, with long black hair tied up in a bun and robes in JJK 0.

The older generation includes Principal Masamichi Yaga, Kyoto's Principal Gakuganji (a guitar-playing old man, really), Atsuya Kusakabe, assistant manager Kiyotaka Ijichi and Zenin clan head Naobito.

Ryomen Sukuna is the King of Curses, a thousand years old and the strongest character in the series. He wears Yuji's face for most of the story, with extra eyes and black markings when he takes over. Kenjaku spends most of the series wearing Geto's body. Choso, the eldest Death Painting brother, starts as an enemy and becomes Yuji's protective big brother.

Among the cursed spirits, Mahito is usually treated as male and is the most important. The Culling Game adds Hiromi Higuruma, a lawyer whose domain puts people on trial, Hajime Kashimo, a 400-year-old sorcerer who wants to fight Sukuna more than anything, and Charles Bernard, a manga artist who can see a few seconds into the future.

Gojo is the easy pick and he deserves it, but we want to make a case for three others.

Nanami is the best-written adult in the series. He's tired of jujutsu, says so out loud, and still does the job properly because he believes children shouldn't have to. His whole arc fits in a handful of episodes and it lands every time.

Choso is the best example of the series changing your mind about a character. He goes from "Yuji's enemy" to "Yuji's brother" so convincingly that his late scenes are some of the most emotional in the manga.

Todo is pure fun. A character who invents a fake friendship with Yuji in the middle of a fight, then becomes a genuinely great ally, is the kind of thing only this series would try.

Who is the guy with the scar on his mouth? Toji Fushiguro, Megumi's father. Megumi doesn't learn much about him until well into the story.

Who is the old man with the guitar? Yoshinobu Gakuganji, the principal of Kyoto Jujutsu High.

Who is the guy with stitches on his forehead? That's Kenjaku wearing Suguru Geto's body. The real Geto never had stitches.

Who is the tall guy with a ponytail and a scar over his eye? Aoi Todo, from Kyoto.

Most of the core male cast arrive in Season 1: Yuji, Megumi, Gojo, Sukuna, Nanami, Todo, Mahito and the Kyoto students. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 brings Yuta and Geto. Season 2 adds Toji, teenage Gojo and Geto, Choso in a big role, and the Zenin clan's Naobito. Season 3 brings the Culling Game men: Higuruma, Hakari, Reggie Star, Charles Bernard, Naoya Zenin and Ryu Ishigori. Kashimo is introduced in the manga's Culling Game too, though his big fights are still ahead for anime-only fans.

Yuji vs Megumi. Yuji wants to save everyone and fights with raw strength. Megumi saves people selectively and fights with an inherited technique that grows with his imagination. They're friends because each one has what the other lacks.

Gojo vs Geto. Same year, same talent, opposite conclusions. Gojo decides to change the jujutsu world by raising strong students. Geto decides to change it by killing non-sorcerers. Season 2's Hidden Inventory shows the exact point where they split.

Toji vs Megumi. Father and son with completely different approaches. Toji has no cursed energy and rejected the Zenin clan. Megumi has the Zenin clan's most prized technique and wants nothing to do with them. The irony is deliberate.

Nanami vs Gojo. Both teachers in practice, but Nanami treats Yuji like a junior colleague he has a duty to protect, while Gojo treats him like a student who'll surpass him. Yuji needs both.

Sukuna vs Mahito. Both villains enjoy cruelty. Sukuna does it from the position of someone who's already the strongest. Mahito does it because he believes it's what curses are for. Sukuna barely sees Mahito as a peer.
