Find a JJK character by hair colour
Saw a JJK character in a clip or a piece of fan art and can't remember the name? Hair colour is usually the quickest way to find them. We've grouped characters by the colour they have in the anime, which is sometimes different from how they look on the colour manga pages. Cursed spirits and other characters without hair are left out.
Black hair JJK characters
Black is the most common hair colour in the series, so "the jjk black hair guy" could mean a lot of people. The three you most likely mean:
- Megumi Fushiguro, spiky black hair that sticks out in every direction, a school uniform and a habit of making hand signs. If the character summons dogs, it's Megumi.
- Yuta Okkotsu, softer, messier black hair, a white uniform and a katana. If there's a huge spirit behind him, that's Rika, and it's definitely Yuta.
- Suguru Geto, long black hair, usually tied in a half bun with a long fringe on one side, and stretched earlobes. In JJK 0 and Shibuya he wears monk-style robes.
Other JJK characters with black hair include Toji Fushiguro (short, with a scar at the corner of his mouth), Aoi Todo (tied up, with a scar over one eye), Noritoshi Kamo, Yu Haibara, Principal Yaga, Kusakabe and assistant manager Ijichi.
JJK characters with white hair
White hair JJK characters are a short list, and the white-haired JJK character everyone knows is Satoru Gojo, usually with a blindfold or dark round glasses. Toge Inumaki has pale, almost lilac-white hair and covers his mouth with a high collar. Mei Mei wears hers in a long braid. Her brother Ui Ui has the same colouring. Uraume, Sukuna's servant, has short white hair, and so does the Modulo character Maru.
Blonde JJK characters
If you're looking for the jjk blonde guy in a suit and glasses, that's Kento Nanami. The other blond men are Kinji Hakari (swept-back hair, a big grin), Naoya Zenin (the Zenin heir, with dyed blond hair and piercings), Reggie Star, Charles Bernard and Iori Hazenoki.
Blonde girls include Momo Nishimiya of Kyoto, the special grade sorcerer Yuki Tsukumo, Hana Kurusu, Nanako Hasaba and Yorozu.
Pink, brown, green and blue
Pink: Yuji Itadori has short pink hair, often with a darker undercut. Sukuna shares it, because in most of his appearances he's using Yuji's body. His true form, which shows up much later, has its own look. Kirara Hoshi has pink hair too.
Brown: Nobara Kugisaki has an orange-brown bob. Shoko Ieiri has long brown hair. The Nitta siblings, Akari and Arata, and Megumi's sister Tsumiki are also brown-haired.
Dark green: the Zenin twins, Maki and Mai. Maki wears glasses for most of the series and ties her hair up. Mai has a short bob with a long side lock.
Blue: Kasumi Miwa has long blue hair. Hajime Kashimo has light blue hair in a topknot.
Grey and grey-blue: Mahito has long grey-blue hair. Older characters like Naobito Zenin and Granny Ogami are grey.
Still can't find them?
Two quick tips. Character colours can look different between the manga's colour pages, official art and the anime, so check neighbouring colours if your character isn't where you expect. And some characters change their hair over the story. Maki is the clearest example: her look shifts after the Zenin arc, along with almost everything else about her.
If you remember a power instead of a face, the full character list shows each character's affiliation and lets you filter by group, and every profile lists their technique.
Why hair colour matters in JJK designs
Gege Akutami's character designs lean on strong silhouettes, and hair does a lot of that work. You can pick out Gojo, Yuji, Megumi and Geto from their hair alone in a crowded panel. It's also used to tie people together. Maki and Mai share dark green hair because they're twins. Toji and Megumi share black hair and sharp features. Sukuna shares Yuji's pink hair because, for most of the story, he literally is wearing Yuji.
The anime adds its own touches. MAPPA's colour choices sometimes differ a little from the official colour manga art, which is why fans argue about whether Nobara's hair is orange or brown and whether Inumaki's is white or very pale purple. We've gone with what most viewers would call it on screen.
Hair tips for JJK cosplay
If you're picking a JJK character to cosplay, hair is usually the hardest part. Gojo's white spikes and Megumi's black spikes both need a lot of styling to hold up. Yuji is easier, short pink hair with a dark undercut, and so is Nanami's neat blond side part. Geto's half bun takes practice to get right, especially the long fringe. Maki's look changes depending on which arc you're going for, so pick a reference image from one specific point in the story.
JJK characters by hair colour: the short list
Black: Megumi, Yuta, Geto, Toji, Todo, Kamo. White: Gojo, Inumaki, Mei Mei, Uraume. Blonde: Nanami, Hakari, Naoya, Momo, Yuki. Pink: Yuji, Sukuna, Kirara. Brown: Nobara, Shoko. Green: Maki, Mai. Blue: Miwa, Kashimo. Grey-blue: Mahito.

Characters who appear in several eras, like Gojo and Geto in Hidden Inventory, keep the same hair colour across time, though their styles change. Teenage Geto wears his hair in a bun, while adult Geto lets more of it down.
